Mark Gonzales is an American professional skateboarder and artist from South Gate, California, born June 1, 1968, of Irish and Mexican descent. Known as "The Gonz," he is widely credited as the pioneer of modern street skateboarding and was named the most influential skateboarder of all time by Transworld Skateboarding in 2011. Gonzales turned pro in 1985 for Vision Skateboards, co-founded Blind Skateboards with Steve Rocco in 1989 and designed the brand's logo, then founded Krooked Skateboards with Deluxe Distribution in 2002. His video part in Blind's Video Days (1991), directed by Spike Jonze, is considered one of the most important skate videos ever made. Gonzales is also an internationally exhibited artist and published poet.
